Poway’s Affordable Housing Communities

Our communities help relieve the financial burden on working families and seniors by providing an affordable place to call home. These communities are also safe, well-designed, and conserve resources through sustainable design.

Brookview Village

Brookview Village, Poway’s first affordable senior-housing complex, features 102 garden-style apartments in a lovely creek side setting. A number of social activities, including a monthly birthday party, weekly craft workshops and various board & card game opportunities keep residents involved in the closely-knit community. In addition, a weekly shopping van takes residents to local stores and monthly educational presentations provide entertainment and connection to community.

 

Haley Ranch Estates

Los Arcos Apartments is a two-story affordable living community for residents 55 years of age and up. Selected units have special features for mobility and sensory impaired people.  Features include a computer and community room, an elevator, indoor mail boxes, a secure entry access system and activity areas. There are also 53 market rate apartments located nearby in the Gateway, a 25 acre retirement community that provides four levels of care.  Both communities are part of the Retirement Housing Foundation family. They are near churches, shopping, restaurants, medical facilities and a major bus route.

 

Oak Knoll Villas

Oak Knoll Villas, located in southwest Poway, is the first affordable apartment community in the City of Poway to be achieved through rehabilitation.  In addition to numerous sustainable design features, the renovation included new bathtubs, kitchen countertops, cabinets, and sinks, bathroom cabinets and vanities, new flooring in the kitchen and living areas, as well as a tot lot and picnic area.  A new community building was also added so that residents could have access to Community HousingWorks’ Learning Communities programs, education and training.

Special Friends is a two-home rehabilitated development providing housing to developmentally disabled adults.  The Vaughan Home is a ranch-style layout boasting 8 bedrooms, 5 baths and an expansive living area. The Sagewood Home is a one-story home with 8 bedrooms, 5 baths and a built-in, fenced swimming pool.  Both homes are ideally located two blocks from the bus stop.

These 33 single-family attached and detached homes are for sale through Poway’s SHOP Program to eligible first-time homebuyers. Four unique plan types are offered in three and four bedroom configurations, ranging from 1,250 -1,605 square feet. The Meadows at Metate Lane consists of 30 single family homes and The Meadows at York Avenue offers 3 single-family detached homes.  The Meadows offers features including solar electric roof systems, fully landscaped front and rear yards, privacy fencing, tankless water heaters, heat and air conditioning systems, and granite kitchen countertops.
