About the Residents
Resident Survey
In the fall of 2009, residents in eight of Poway’s affordable housing communities completed a survey designed to learn more about the residents themselves. The response was high, with a 64% participation rate.
Connections to the City of Poway
The resident survey revealed that the overwhelming majority of affordable housing residents have close ties to Poway:
- 74% were born or raised in Poway, have family who currently or previously lived in Poway, or have a household member who works in Poway.
- 53% lived in Poway before moving into their current homes.
- 37% also work in Poway. This is much higher than the City of Poway’s rate of 24% for Powegians who both work and live in the city.
